How to use this online to-do list

  1. Type a task in the box, for example “Read The Hindu editorial” or “Solve 25 Polity MCQs”.
  2. Pick a category such as Study, Work or Personal, then press Add Task or Enter.
  3. Tick the checkbox when a task is done. Completed tasks move to the bottom with a line through them.
  4. Use the All / Active / Completed filters and the category tabs to focus on what is left.
  5. Click the pencil icon to fix a typo, and use Clear Completed at the end of the day to start fresh.

How your tasks are stored

This task manager runs entirely in your browser. Every change is written instantly to localStorage, a small storage area that belongs to this website on your device. There is no server, no login and no sync, which keeps your list private and makes the page load fast even on a slow connection.

Because the data lives on one device, a list you make on your laptop stays on that laptop. If you clear your browsing data, the list is deleted too, so copy anything important into your notes first.

Example: a UPSC study day as tasks

TaskCategoryTime
Read newspaper and make current affairs notesStudy1 hour
Laxmikanth: Fundamental Rights chapterStudy2 hours
Solve 25 Prelims MCQs on PolityStudy45 minutes
Write one GS2 answer (250 words)Study30 minutes
Pay electricity billPersonal10 minutes

Filtering by Study and Active then shows exactly what is still pending, about 4 hours 15 minutes of study in this example.

Tips for a to-do list that actually gets done

  • Start with a verb. “Revise Article 32” is clearer than “Article 32”.
  • Keep tasks small. If a task takes more than two hours, split it into parts.
  • Limit the list. Five to eight tasks a day is realistic; move the rest to tomorrow.
  • Review at night. Clear completed tasks and write tomorrow’s top three before you sleep.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my to-do list tasks saved?

Your tasks are saved in your own browser using local storage, so they stay after you close the tab. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed, but clearing browser data or using private mode will erase the list.

Can I use this to-do list on my phone?

Yes. The list works in any modern mobile browser and the edit and delete buttons are always visible on small screens. Tasks are stored per browser, so a list made on your phone will not appear on your laptop.

How do I edit or delete a task?

Click the pencil icon to edit a task in place, then press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. Click the bin icon to delete a single task, or use Clear Completed to remove everything you have ticked off.

How can I see only pending tasks?

Click the Active filter to hide completed tasks. You can combine it with a category tab, for example Active plus Study, to see only the study tasks still left for today.

How should a UPSC aspirant plan daily tasks?

Break each subject into small tasks you can finish in one sitting, such as one NCERT chapter or 20 MCQs. A list of 5 to 8 specific tasks a day is easier to complete than one vague goal like studying History.
